Freedom In Christ

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

Galatians 5:13-15 NIV

Many have been sacrificed for freedom to exist in the United States

The most important sacrifice of life for the freedom of others came from Jesus Christ

He came down from heaven, set an example for us on how to live and then died on the Cross so that we can be reconciled with God

Let’s not take for granted what others have done for our freedom to exist…especially the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His saving Grace

May we be filled with joy and peace and serve others with love because of Him who died to save us

Holy Living…Relationships

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Romans 12:2 NIV

The people in our daily lives, the family and friends we interact with every day, these are the people on earth who know the most about us

How we treat each other, whether or not we trust each other, these are the cornerstones of our relationships

It is too easy to take others for granted or think they will always be there because for such a long time they have always been there

Yet things will happen in this broken and sinful world or time and age itself will catch up with every single person, and one day you may get a phone call that will change everything in an instant…they are gone

None us really knows what life has in-store for us each day, only God knows

He doesn’t make the bad things happen, the sins of the human race have done that, however…

He will bring comfort, He will bring courage and He will bring His presence to strengthen us

Let’s strive to not take people and relationships for granted, each day

I pray we attempt to live our best and show others the light and love of Christ that we have so graciously received

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

What Matters Most

“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

John 3:18 NIV

Believe

In the Apostles’ Creed there are three statements that begin with ‘I believe…’

Those statements refer to God the Father, Jesus Christ His only Son and the Holy Spirit

Faith is a journey and one of the first and most important steps on this journey is to face the question…What do you believe?

What you believe guides your values and your perspective and those will drive your words and your actions

Every day is a new opportunity to feed your mind information about what you believe

No matter what your past has been…start or continue today to read the Word of God and what Jesus Christ said about life, love, faith and hope

What matters most is what you believe

Call To Serve

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45 NIV

“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

Jesus came to serve the needs of the people

He sacrificed to help others

We are called to do the same

Nothing Can Separate Us From His Love

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?”

Romans 8:31-35 NIV

No matter what has happened or is happening

No matter where you are

No circumstances or situations in your life can separate you from God’s love

Nothing…

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God’s Presence Is All Around Us

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9 NIV

One of the most difficult things for us to accomplish is change

A change that will last, is sustainable and makes a difference in us and how we interact with others

One of the greatest changes in human history occurred when Jesus Christ changed Saul into Paul, His disciple

We read about this is the Book of Acts, chapter 9

What Jesus did to create and sustain this change was to illuminate His Presence to Saul

To show His Presence and then to give instructions to Saul as to what he must do

God is present in creation and in each of our lives everyday…we just need to do a better job of looking for Him

His Presence exists in nature, the change of the seasons and in the Fruits of the Spirit that we give and receive in our interactions with others

God is with you, He loves you and His Presence is what gives you strength

Thanks be to God

Gentleness

Gentleness shows up in the Bible in three places…within the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit…

You have given me the shield of your salvation,
and your right hand supported me,
and your gentleness made me great.”

Psalm 18:35 NIV
