Prayer Makes A Difference

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6 NIV

Do we always get what we want, when we want it?  No

Does a child always get what they ask for?  Do they understand why?

No, they don’t…what we do know is that God wants us to pray

It is our way to communicate with God

It is a common topic in the bible…Matthew 6:6, Luke 18:1, Philippians 4:6 and many more places

Prayer is something God encourages us to do and knowing that, means that even though we may not understand how it works, prayer does make a difference

God’s Word

God’s word is the source of truth and our guide for living in this world

There are so many ways it will help us and support us and it never changes

People will come and go; people will try to twist it and use it for their personal agenda

Stay close in your relationship with Jesus Christ as He is the Truth

Pickup God’s word every day and you will see the many ways God speaks to us

Below are a few situations from my life and how God’s word speaks to me about these things

When I am focused on worry and fear…

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 27:1 NIV

When I have doubt or confusion…

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.”[a] 

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

When I am led astray by temptations…

“Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

Psalm 51:10-12 NIV

If you want to know where is God in all that is going on in the world, open up His Word, seek and you will find

The greatest gift we have received is we can have a personal relationship with God

Keep God’s Word In Your Heart

What are the verses of Scripture that speak to you?

What verses comfort you?

What verses remind you that God has got you?

This is reason for this blog “Take Your Faith With You”

Store up God’s Word in your heart and mind so that no matter where you are or what is happening, you have the ability to call on God for strength, courage and comfort

Here are some verese that have guided me on my journey…

The Word Planted In You

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12 NIV

The Word of God will uphold you and sustain you

It will provide peace and calm in your mind and in your heart

Take time to memorize some verses…whichever ones speak to you

You will know which ones when you read them

Then put them deep in your mind and in your heart where nothing and no one can reach them

Then at anytime and in any situation you can remember them to lead you and guide you

God’s Word is a gift and one of the ways He communicates with us

A Strong Foundation

“By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 3:10-11 NIV

The best things are built by starting out with the development of a strong foundation

A solid foundation helps to support missteps, mistakes and accidents along the way

If we try to build something without developing the foundation the endeavor will eventually fail and end up as a pile of rubble

The foundation of our faith is our relationship and daily interaction with Jesus Christ and the Word of God

These are the elements that will help us build and grow our spiritual life and sustain us through the most difficult things the world will throw at us
