“But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all.”
Isaiah 53:5-6 NLT
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Romans 5:8 NLT
He came down from heaven and was born as a baby. He lived and taught…He was beaten, spit on and made to carry the cross He would die on. He comitted no sin and took the punishment for all of our sins. He suffered, He was crucified, died and was buried and He did it all for you. Thanks be to God for the sacrifice Jesus made for you and me. Amen.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:1-2 NIV
Honesty…honor…ethics…morals…decency…fairness…sincerity…truthfulness…trustworthiness. It seems in the world of social media and the race to get more attention to the self; these characteristics have gone by the wayside. The constant striving for likes, popularity, money and me first attitude have become overwhelming idols of this fallen world. Now more than ever we need people turning towards God and transforming their hearts and minds to the purpose of life according to God. It begins with a relationship with Jesus Christ, His Son, our Savior. Wherever you are, whatever has been done turn towards Jesus and seek to know Him. Amen.
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 14 Do everything in love.”

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:9-11 NIV
The one who took our punishment…we are guilty of sin, of doing things we should not do. He was without sin and yet He came down from heaven to sacrifice Himself for us. We didn’t earn it and we don’t deserve it…So why did He do it? Because that is how much He loves you and wants a relationship with you. His name is Jesus. No matter where you are of what you have done, call out to Jesus. He is waiting to hear from you. Amen.
“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”
Galatians 5:13-15 NIV
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

“May your unfailing love be my comfort,
according to your promise to your servant.”
Psalm 119:76 NIV
Our God is the God of all comfort…there is nothing and no one in the world that can comfort us the way God can…turn towards God and you will find peace.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

“Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”
Luke 9:23-24 NIV
God doesn’t need us to make the plans and try to control the outcomes…and frankly living this way often leads to disappointment and frustration. I read some place last summer these words…God does not need our help or cooperation in establishing purpose in our lives…only our surrender. This is true, we need to remember that God is with us and within us always and at all times…instead of thinking He is only near when we pay attention or recognize His presence. What or how do you need to surrender to God?
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”
1 Peter 1:3-9 NIV
Praise the Lord…He is always with you even when you don’t think about it. God has provided a well-spring of hope through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ to save us. Even though we do not deserve it God has forgiven us by His grace and we may have peace that surpasses all understanding. Praise the Lord.

“I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.”
Job 19:25 NIV
What has happened in the past is done and can’t be changed…we can learn from it…we can change today. Don’t let what has happened be chains around you that you drag with you everywhere you go…Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins and He is our Redeemer…bring your past, your shame and your guilt to the Lord and He will set you free. Amen.
