When life is difficult and frustrating, where do we get the ability to move forward? What could possibly renew us? What makes some people so resilient? It has been my experience that there is only one thing powerful enough to lift us up out of any tragedy or trial…and His name is Jesus. A relationship with Jesus Christ in the way to strength in the battle and rest when we are weary. To experience His presence, we must do our part and be willing to spend time in devotions and prayer building our relationship with Him. God made a promise, He will never leave you nor forsake you and He always keeps His promises. Invite Jesus into your heart and into your life daily and you will be renewed each day. For all our worrying, trying, striving and wondering about life the best approach is to come to the Lord…rest with Him and trust His way. We seem to be very good at being distracted and making things more difficult for ourselves than they need to be. God has promised to send His Holy Spirit to dwell within us and be our guide…not our assistant for our plans rather our leader for God’s plans. Our job is to follow Him and know that the Lord is good. Give thanks to God for His Holy Spirit.

What are you thankful for? This is not something to consider only once a year in late November…it is an everyday prayer and worship attitude. What do you find yourself focusing your thoughts on each day…negativity? What is wrong or could be better? Why isn’t this working? When did this break or stop happening? Problems? Frustrations? Disappointments? It can easily become overwhelming…the Good News is we have the opportunity to change our perspective and our attitude without any of the external factors being different! How? Through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Spending time daily with God’s Word, taking time to sit quietly and pray…these are the keys to building our daily life on a foundation of positivity and living your best with whatever happens. Seek the Lord and shift your attitude to be one of gratitude.

Our faith becomes most real when we experience something that is difficult to explain with words…when a need is met in an unexplained way, when courage came at an unexpected time, when peace overwhelms us during a difficult time, when we are able to do something that we normally would not consider attempting if we had time to think about it and analyze it…when we get out of the way and God is guiding us. Only later do we consider and realize that God came near to us. These are not once in a lifetime experiences, as God is with us in life every step of the way every day…we just need to be in communication with Him and trust in Him. May God’s peace be with you. Take time to reflect on your life and remember what God has done for you. Think about the storms you have already come through…how He protected you or guided you safely. Remember that no matter what God loves you…He is with you and within you. Jesus left the comfort of heaven to come down and live as one of us…He sacrificed Himself to be beaten and crucified and to pay the penalty for our sin so that we could have a relationship with God. God will do for you that which you can’t do for yourself…put your trust in the Lord and give thanks to Him.

A way of thinking…a point of view…outlook…perspective…belief. How would you define your attitude toward God? What is His role? How much time during a typical week are we thinking about God? The Bible has many of examples of different people and their attitude towards God, it describes their beliefs and actions. There is a lot for us to learn from those people. From Genesis to Revelation, we read about those who put God at the center of their lives and those who did not. The best example of an appropriate attitude towards God is that of Jesus Christ…He took time daily to walk with God and this is what He seeks from us as well. Spend time with Jesus every day and pray about your attitude towards God. Amen.
