The words of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel according to John…
“Then Jesus cried out, “When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me.
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”
John 12:44-46

Paul writes in his second letter to the Corinthians…
“For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”

“The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?

Today is a day some people express the greatest fears of darkness they have in the form of costumes and decorations. Some are playful…some are of a dark nature. In this world we will encounter people and events that are surrounded by darkness. Do not be afraid…God gives us the Light. When God was sending his Son into the world he put one bright light in the sky to show the way. On this Halloween you certainly can celebrate in whatever way suits you and your family especially because we already know that darkness does not win in the end. The Light of the world comes from God and his Son and they have already had victory over darkness.
“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light and knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6
Show others his Light today.
Peace.
