Humility…Gratitude

Father God, when we are overwhelmed by the brokenness and darkness we see, help us to remember You are near.  You are in control.  We can’t stop all the pain and injustice we witness, yet we can help overcome evil by doing good.  Please help us to do that.  Give us the courage and humility to love other people well.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Persevere

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

James 1:2-4 NIV

Father God, please give us strength to run the race of faith.  Often times darkness in this world will bring us many forms of struggle and we are easily distracted and drift away from You.  Fill us with courage to stay close to You and trust in Your promises…even when…especially when we can’t see clearly.  You are the source of our endurance to keep going, when we get knocked back or pushed down we know we can trust in You and keep running the race of faith.  Thank You for all You do for us.  In Jesus name, Amen.

God’s Faithfulness

Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness, even when we have been unfaithful to You.  Thank You for Your presence in our lives and for never leaving us alone.  We know that You will continue to guide us and protect us as You work in us and through us.  Help us remember to place our hope and trust in You.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Wait For The Lord

Our lives are usually so busy moving from one thing to the next, so much so that planning and preparing become dominant activities…the problem is if we are always planning and preparing for what’s next when are we living in the present moment?

A difficult part of surrender for all of us is letting go and not always trying to control what’s next.  A life of faith doesn’t mean we always go and do what we want…Jesus said in Luke 9:23 “…If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”  We all have a cross to bear in life, it is different for everyone…and bearing a cross is doing what needs to be done.  It is sacrifice.  It means being obedient to God and we do things because we love God and others.

Be in prayer and talk with the Lord about what He needs you to do then wait and listen.  May each of us be surrounded by the love of God each day.

Hope With Humility

Character and attitude…how we treat each other in our daily lives.

These are the things that show that we believe.  Love is action.  Learn from the example that Jesus provided in His life, death and resurrection.  Live out your faith with your attitude and how you treat others in daily life.

Rest And Renew

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We are not in control of what happens in the world…the daily news and events make that abundantly clear.  The only thing we can control is how we choose to respond to things that do happen.

The best thing we can do is turn towards Jesus…believe in Him, confess our sins and do our best to live according to God’s Word.  Give thanks to the Lord.  We don’t know and can’t control what will happen tomorrow yet we can trust in Him who sits on the throne of heaven.  It is by drawing near to Him we can find rest and be renewed.

Thanksgiving In How We Live

Jesus Christ suffered and died for you because He loves you.  He has risen…He is alive and wants to help you in this life and He wants to spend eternity with you.

Give thanks to Jesus, not only with words but with actions and your behavior…choose to live your life every day with a thankful heart.

To Know Him…

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[a] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”

There are two important aspects of faith…To Know Him and To Make Him Known.  God is the Creator of all and He wants a personal relationship with each and every one of us…so much so that He sent His Son to die for us so that we can be reconciled to Him.  Make time for your realtionship with Jesus and get to know Him.
